Extra Support Proves a Winning Formula Down Under
A Hampshire-based entrepreneur has been named 'Official Platinum Partner' of the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation thanks to her range of innovative sports bras and global initiative.
After teaching aerobics for 20 years, sports fanatic Lisa Moore noticed a gap in the market for a comfortable supportive sports bra that was also a pleasure to wear, and in particular one that incorporated a heart rate monitor that had precise readings and was also suitable for water based activities for triathletes.
Lisa took the leap of faith and invented three products – "The Boobytrap!" sports bra; The Cardiobra, which incorporates a heart-rate monitor within its design in a truly innovative way of which she owns the Intellectual Property across the world, and also Keep Abreast. This is the first Global Breast Cancer Awareness Sports Bra that supports charities worldwide - a unique initiative developed to raise awareness and donations for one selected Breast Cancer Charity per country. This has helped create global awareness and a unified approach to this cause, again with Intellectual Property secured internationally.
Having owned Boobytrap! for some years she developed a UK manufacturing base and high-street shop. Excellent sales, customer demand and brand interest confirmed to Lisa that her products would have a global appeal. So just a few months ago, Lisa approached UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) South East to discuss her vision to make the company an international success.
Pauline Rippon, an International Trade Adviser (ITA) with UKTI South East, worked with Boobytrap! to monitor its progress and refine its overseas strategy. Several key exhibitions were identified and via the UKTI Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) Lisa qualified for £1,000 Solo support funding to help with exhibition costs at The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games in the Olympic Village in Australia. She also qualified for free British Airways return business-class flights to Sydney in October.
This exhibition was a huge success for Lisa. She got to meet the CEO of the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation and the charity has now made Boobytrap! their exclusive sportswear Platinum Partners and will support development of the brand and a sportswear collection to complete the concept. The exhibition also proved fruitful in regards to the Cardiobra. Rebel Sports, who are market leaders throughout Australia and New Zealand struck a deal to stock the Cardiobra and support the Keep Abreast initiative in all 131 of its stores including Bondi!
Next year, Lisa will be hitting the ground running and is scheduled to appear on the QVC shopping channel later on this month (January) with the Cardiobra where she hopes her products will fly off the shelves, after the over-indulgence of the festive season and the New Year’s resolutions of thousands of women to keep fit and healthy!
Lisa also plans to head stateside in 2010, and is mapping out exhibitions and meetings in North America and Europe...more |
